Old Software

I have software that is about 12 years old. Was original made for win95. I have run it on pc's with 95/98 and me on them. Id like to lose to old clunker pc and run it off something that aint so old. More reliable.

I would like to run it on windows 7. But 2000/XP/7 all will not run it. I have tried the compatibility setting with nothing. I am wondering if I can run virtual desktop with win98 as the OS and get it to work.

What do you guys suggest?

I'm try the VM route, as you suggested. Virtual PC 2007 would be an easy way to test. Get a 98 CD or ISO, load that CD/image in VPC in a new VM, and install the OS.

If you can get VM to work on Windows 7, that'd be your best route.

VMware should work. Use that. Or even VirtualBox.

Well I was going to just install win98 on a new pc. I got it all installed and such just to find I wasted my time because the computer I used doesn't have a parallel port!! And this software requires a HASP on the parallel port. BAD LUCK!

Tried the usb adapter. Does not work on these HASP things. I am going to buy a Add-on Card that has parallel port on them.
