What does this mean, DDR RAM??

"(Note: PC2100/PC1600 up to 3 DIMMs; PC3200/PC2700 up to 2 DIMMs; 1GB PC3200/2700 with 32 DDR chips up to 1 DIMM only)"

This is listed in the memory specifications for my motherboard. Does this mean, even though the motherboard can suppport up to 3 GB of memory, I can only have 1 GB when I use PC 3200?? I bought two 512 sticks of PC 2700 DDR so will I not be able to upgrade it ne further??

Thats what it sounds like... it would help if we knew what motherboard you're using.

Sounds like you got it right. The chipset has limitation on dimm 3 when over 133 fsb. I wasnt aware of a 1 gig limitaition though. This may just be a board thing and not the chipset

Curious what kind of memory (brand and model number did you get? Are they synced? Are you going to run them dual channeled?

Also keep in mind the following:

For a 800mhz CPU FSB you need PC3200 or PC2700 which you should be fine with so far.

It's quite a common problem with some "older" chipsets. They support DDR333 and/or DDR400, but do not really support it all the way.

It's basically a matter of motherboard manufacturers tweaking an older bios to work with newer hardware - the mobo can't officially support it, but thanks to some clever programmers, it can. sort of.
