win 2k sp4

has anyone installed this yet? I have sp3, but dont know if sp4 will offer any performance advantages or compatability in a non-networked enviroment.

Have installed SP4 - seems to work OK; haven't spotted any major advantages yet.

Try:
http://www.microsoft.com/windows2000...p4/default.asp
for more information on it

We have observed stability issues with SP4 in certain environments. Most of the time it functions properly. Always have a roll back plan in case of disaster.

I've upgraded to SP4 recently and except for messing up Autodesk Viz 4 files it's fine.
If you are running Viz 4 the only solution so far is to uninstall the SP. Yea, like that works all the time!

Upgraded to SP4 on most of our servers at work, no real problems (either virgin Win2k to SP4 or else SP3 to SP4 in all cases).

Doesn't seem to have any major stability issues (we've got some servers that I upgraded the day it came out, still no problems).

So if you're still waiting, I say go for it. Just, as always when applying a new SP, make sure you've got a good backup handy, in case something, however unlikely, does go wrong.

I've been running SP4 since about the time it came out, and my machine seems to shutdown faster now, which is nice because it was taking about 2 minutes with SP2. I never did SP3 though

I organised my works upgrade to SP4, network install worked fine.. created the startup script, and ordered all the computers to restart.. Only problem i had, was angry workers when their comps shut down.. no damage caused thou, they were all playing Quake3 ;/

Been using SP4 for a while and haven't seen any significant benefits, nor any drawbacks. Hopefully it patches some of the security flaws in any M$ system
