'phones in cd-rom

what does the headphone jack on the cd rom drive do... when i plug headphones in there it doesnt do anything
the cord on my 'phones isnt long enough to lay back comfortably if i have them plugged in on the normal jack.

also, when i was moving into my new dorm, my monitor must have gotten bumped or something and in the bottom right corner the color is all screwed up- its a purplish hue, theres nothing i can do can i?

sigh

usually the headphone jack is for audio CDs

either find the 'degauss' option if the monitor has an OSD or a button to degauss, otherwise its automatic and a function of temperature, that is when the monitor has been off for a while, it should automagically degauss itself when you switch it on, it has to be off long enough for the sensor to cool down.

Failing that take it to a TV store and they'll use a special ring magnet that will degauss it for you.

you coiuld also try turning the monitor around, the earths magnetic core does affect the monitor sometimes, especially if its been in one position long enough, this is not likely for your situation, but it can help.

anyone know if the outlet on the cdrom drive will work if the audio cable from the cdrom drive is not attached to mobo/audio card?

The jack on the drive doesn't go through the soundcard, AFAIK, so it doesn't matter how the sound card is hooked up.
