dsl routing issue

I have a dsl router and three WIN XP computers. Recently it started dropping my internet connection if you weren't at the computer for a little while.

I would be online for a bit, play some UT2003 and then leave for an hour. When I came back, Mozilla and Firebird on seperate comps would just spin and spin, the giving the timeout messages.

I unpug the dsl router and immediately plug it back in, and everything works.

any ideas what it is?

I have Speed Stream dsl router... it JUST started doing this and nothing in my computer using schedule has changed!

It would work when you left, but when you came back the computers would just hang trying to access any website.

It's like it just stops allowing web access every once in a while. It always works when I powercycle the dsl router.

I believe with DSL you have to "dial in", ccan't recall atm. But it might kick you if you are idle to long then you would need to re-connect which your router is probably set up to do automatically when rebooted. Theory, Im not quite sure.

No. I have had this dsl for a year, and the dsl router for six months. It just started doing this two nights ago.

I had a wireless router do this, and a upgrade to the firmware didn't help, I took the router back and exchanged it, works fine now.

I had a similar problem and I kept getting dropped (it was very noticable in chat). It ended up being my NIC.

If you have multiple computers connected, the next time you get dropped, check the other computer. If it's still online and the other is dropped, it may be the NIC.
