So,

I'm trying to open a .exe file the I downloaded and unzipped and I get the following message:

Runtime error "713"
Class not registered
You need the following file to be installed on your machine MSSTDFMT.DLL

I have NO idea what this is? Is there anyone out there that can help?

You are just missing a Dynamic Link Library (DLL) file.

Download it here:

stick this in your c:\windows\system -or- c:\windows\system32 directory, I don't know which one...it depends on the file but try them both and one should work.

Or you can just simply put it into the same directory as the executable. The DLL search path is always starts with the current directory. Than usually it includes the windows\system and windows\system32 directories.
