Automatically changing resolution

Does anyone here know how (and if) I can assign certain users a certain resolution so the screen changes automatically?

See my father and mother are both blind as bats and need 800 x 600 but seeing as most webpages don't really come out unless you're running 1024 x 768 that's what I always use. This leads to a lot of grumbling of 'constantly having to change the damned screen'. Now I have XP Professional SP1 and every member of my family has their own account so I was thinking that it shouldn't be impossible to have the resolution changed (or set) automatically. Right? I was thinking along the lines of a startup script for each user, but I have to idea how to write one that will accomplish what I want or where to even start learning.

Can anybody help me?

SIMTel Page on scrnmode.zip

The above page links to a free, open-source program that can change your resolution from the command line. The page says it's only for Win9x/ME, but it works fine on XP (that's where I use it). Just create a startup script for the users that uses this program to change their resolution. You probably have to set one up for yourself, so the resolution goes back to 1024x768 (or whatever you like).

Hope that helps.

Thank you good sir (or ma'am), it's a pretty dirty solution, but it works like a charm. You have the thanks of my father and myself.

You could also maybe try setting the text size in Internet Explorer to 'Largest' and see if that helps.
