I use an IBM RapidResponse keyboard at home. Probably the best keyboard I've seen since the early 1990s. I still use an old-school IBM keyboard at one office. The new fancy looking ones only serve to waste money. I wish they made a wireless RapidResponse, though.

Am I the only one that HATES Dell QuietKey keyboards? They're on all the school workstations and they annoy me to death with the lack of response. Perhaps I've just been typing on keyboards for too long.

Great thread. I badly need to replace my keyboard and this is great info. I have been considering the Logitech duo's but wondered how they would perform.

(She also told me that I could take a 286 computer, but had no interest.) I LOVE this keyboard. No silly Windows keys. It's built like a tank. Untill this keyboard dies, I will not buy a new one. Actually, I don't think it will ever die. So, when it comes to keyboards, I am old-school. Just did a bit of research, it's a "model M" keyboard. Pretty much unchanged from 1984. Sometimes, a company makes a product that is soooo good that there is no need to replace it, even 13 years after it was made. I'm sure these keyboards can be found on ebay. It rocks. Hate the split keyboards, hate the quiet, mushy keyboards. You will have to pry this keyboard out of my cold, dead hands. Lol

Absolutely agree with this. The original IBM keyboards are still the best. I love the solid feel of the click of each key press and they were built to last. I've had mine for 20 years!!!!! No bells and whistles but then, I don't see the point of littering your keyboard with useless clutter.

No Das Keyboard II in this thread? For shame.

Mechanical switches at an affordable price. Custom weighted keys in five zones, too. Only $80.

That's cool. DO you actually have one of those?
It's very tempting!

If you are looking for the absolute "best" keyboard, this is it:

but if you don't want to spend $1500 on a fucking keyboard, Logitech is nice as well.

This is a pretty neat one too.
The G15.
There was another I liked with an attachable 9 button pad...

It's done, and he is taking preorders now for shipment in December. It's ridiculously priced though.

The G15, only $71.99 from newegg, with free shipping, if you went to pricegrabber or pricewatch, I'm sure you could find it cheaper.

I haven't had one problem with mine, comes with 3x18 hot keys, so for any game you're set for life. The LCD display tells time, lets you control your MP3 player on board, control the volume and many other things.
It has back lights that you can change, and a button the mute the volume all together, handy if someone wallks in and you need to hear them.

Also, with the hot keys, you can program Windows shot cuts, like with G1, you can make open My Computer or your browser.
