formating fat32 to ntfs (XP)

I have two HDs, one, with XP installed is formatted to NTFS, the other, from my old computer is formatted to fat32. I don't have any data on it that I need, and I want to format it to NTFS. What do I need to do to do this?

In my computer, you can right click on the drive and choose format. Pick the NTFS file system and click Start.

There are other ways, but that's probably the easiest.

You may be able to format it just by going into start >> administrative tools >> computer management // storage // disk management.

You can do it from inside Windows XP by simply right clicking on the drive and selecting format, and then making sure it's in the NTFS option. If that doesn't work for ya, you can use the Windows XP CD to do it as well, but make sure you choose the right drive if you do it that way. Just boot into the CD like you're gonna format the drive and install Windows. The easiest way is definitely from within Windows like Thunder and sailor said.

And for yet another way to do it, open your command console and type convert (insert drive letter) /fs:ntfs. An example would be convert d: /fs:ntfs. This way you wouldn't lose any information you have there, but I see this isn't the case for you, just thought I'd throw yet another piece of information out there.

EDIT: Keep in mind this only works for conversion to NTFS, not backwards.

thanks guys,
blatently obvious, I know, and as a self-proclaimed geek, I'm ashamed, but I'm now running even better, and my pride is a small price to pay, eh?

Dings to one's pride only makes us stronger and wiser.

Had a teacher who once said "The only dumb question is the one you don't ask"

Had another tell me there were dumb questions and he will laugh at you for asking them.

Go figure.
