AVG Anti virus issues

Hey,

My avg anti virus programs been acting wierd

for a few days now i havent been able to update my virus defs,

didnt think anything of it until i tried to get to their webpage, its very hard to load it, it takes me 3-6 tries to load every page and the pictures never work.

are they overloaded or is it something about my computer

Since you asked, I checked. It took a little longer than usual, but I was able to get my updates.

Mybe it's just their servers.

souzafone 03-05-2004 05:24 PM

must have been them---had the same problem for the last 4 or 5 days, but all's good now

I think its been their servers. I wasn't able update for awhile and only got through today

steveincolumbus 03-06-2004 12:25 PM

I had noticed mine hadn't updated since the 29th, but it works today, but it is slow, only 10K down, and i have a 5 mb connection here at the office

still cant update as of today... guuur

Hanabal 03-06-2004 03:06 PM

i got through after 30 mins yesterday, but its screwed today as well, but why all of a sudden

Arc101 03-06-2004 03:06 PM

Just tried it now and had no problems getting the latest update

guthmund 03-06-2004 04:27 PM

My last update (3/5) was pretty big. I'm just guessing, but I would imagine with all the virus paranoia running rampant and the size of this update their servers are probably jammed tight.

I couldn't get through either at first, so I browsed around and found this...

Quote:

1- find the "url.ini" file in your AVG folder.
2- open it up in wordpad/notepad whatever...
3- delete all that crap and add this and save it.

[SERVER_NAME]
1=free.grisoft.cz
2=ftp.grisoft.com
3=www.grisoft.com

[SERVER_URL]
1=http://free.grisoft.cz/softw/60/fe
2=ftp.grisoft.com/pub/softw/60/fe/
3=http://www.grisoft.com/softw/60/fe/
Actual URL=3

4- Now when you open AVG and update you'll have three choices instead of the usual one in the drop down box. One of them is bound to work :)

It worked for me, so, I thought I'd share it.

souzafone 03-06-2004 05:08 PM

guthmund 03-07-2004 12:47 AM

It wasn't mine. :)

But I'm glad it worked.
