Webserver for Hotlinking... Help..

Hey everyone...

I need some assistance. Im trying to find out an easy way to hotlink images to TPF from my home pc. Ive looked in to starting my own website to do this. But im wondering if there is a cheaper and easier way. I have a DI-604 router and I use Remote desktop through it. I curious if I could some how use this to hot like from. Any help would be greatly apprecicated...

You could easily set up a web server on a home pc and route the traffic trough your router.

I would advise against this 100%.

You would find yourself using a great deal of bandwidth and your connection would be unreliable at best.

You are better off dropping some coin on a hosting company that would host your kind of material.

They have some inexpensive plans that allow for a great deal of transfer bandwidth, you can disable hotlinking from any other place but the TFP and it is very inexpensive. Check out their monthly special

I use Abyss Web Server(http://www.aprelium.com/abyssws/), its very simple, and easy to set up, and best of all, its FREE. I've been using it for pics, movies, and my personal site, along with hosting files for other people and I've never ran into any problems. The only thing I've ran into is, when people are downloading larger files(20MB+), my connection does seem to slow down, I'm using verizon DSL(which has to be the slowest DSL connection around here), but they haven't said anything about my transfers or bandwidth, so I'm running with it until I'm told otherwise, or they just block the port.

Agreed. keep in mind that every time someone looks into the thread you start, it will download the pics from your server eating at your bandwidt constantly.

if all you are doing is wanting a server to host photos for hotlinking, you could try http://www.photobucket.com it's free and has about 5mg of webspace for hotlinking. you can even buy more, if you want. the only stipulation is No Porn.
