I want to pick up ASP really soon. What are some good online resources and books for noobs like me?

but If would be you i'd start learning ASP.NET right away

again I would suggest to read w3schools:

http://www.w3schools.com/aspnet/aspnet_vsasp.asp

basicly .NET is more advanced, has full langauge support for Visual Basic.NET, C# and C++ as code behind

and it has a lot more handy features .. datagrids, input controls wich can be controlled via the script code etc etc
