[HTA / JScript] Converting Mac Text File to DOS Format?

I'm trying to parse a tab-separated-value plaintext file created on a Macintosh using the Windows JScript engine and HTA host. When I open the file in UltraEdit, I get the usual prompt asking me if I want to convert it to DOS format. I click "Yes", but the status bar still says it's a Mac file. My HTML application hangs when trying to extract the fields. Any suggestions?

I handed the Mac file to the PHP file() function, and the print_r() function showed only one element in the resulting array. This suggests that the Mac uses an odd newline character sequence. Does anybody know what that sequence might could be?

Never mind. I don't need it now. Thanks anyway.
