How in the hell do I get Firefox to open a COPY of a current window?

... I just can't do it!

It looks impossible! I even referred to the nicely compiled keyboard shortcuts in the Firefox help section.

So... anyone?

Thanks for that! Didn't know it existed.

Although, I have not been able to install any extensions so far. The only one I have is the default one that came along with it - DOM Inspector 1.0.

Everything else that I try to install makes a noise in the ram cache as if it was working then I get no success message or it even being listed in the Extensions Manager. Yes, I've tried rebooting/exiting Firefox. No luck. I run Win ME. Is there anything I can do?

What version of Firefox are you running? With the release of 0.9, the extension manager changed significantly. You might be installing a 'new' extension onto an 'old' build.

And, 0.9 was kind of borked, 0.9.1 is better. There's going to be a 0.9.2 any day now, for a security fix.

I'm using nightly/2004-07-07.

Jeez, a 0.9.1 already?! I've been using 0.9.

GOD, nightly builds?
I'd rather have one final update and be done with it.

You people are obessed.

So, I've gotta uninstall my current Firefox before I install this version?

Well, 1.0 is targeted for September, if you want to wait.

Here's the Mozilla Firefox 0.9.1 Release Notes, which do recommend an uninstall. But your profile will stay the same, so don't worry about all the settings.

You can find compliant extensions at Mozilla Update. I really like MakeLink, which allows me to easily put these links into these threads without fiddling with BBcode.

Yeah, I'm obsessed. I've been doing nightlies since it was Phoenix 0.4.

Great! It all works now except:
1. The link you provided for the nightlies turned out to be a 0.9+ install not the 0.9.1 you've been raving about. [And, if you're as obessed as you say you are then there is a 0.9.2 beta out there. But you already knew that, didn't you? ]

2. I had to go to about:config and edit 3 entries to allow myself to make 0.9 extensions and lower compatible with 0.9+. [This was not easy [especially finding the fix] being a newbie to Firefox but I got it done.]

AND, a word of the wise to everyone out there who can't install any extensions:
MAKE SURE "Allow websites to install software" IS ENABLED!!!!!!!!!!!!
Under Options - Advanced - Software Update

You don't know how much of a headache it was not understanding why any extensions were not being installed.

On a side note: The Release Notes brag about being able to delete individual entries on autocomplete entries. ...Nope.

0.9+ refers to the ongoing nightly branch, which will continue until 1.0. It is newer than 0.9.2, but is likely to be buggier.

I already announced 0.9.2 in another thread .

And yeah, I thought about the other two problems, but forgot to come back and mention them to you. Sorry.

Autocomplete: for some reason, it is SHIFT-DEL, not just the delete key. Works for me.

Anything else, just ask!

No problem. You didn't underestimate me though - because deep down - now admit this - you knew I'd persevere.
