Is there a program that can "equalize" the volume of many MP3s at once?

Heya everyone.

Lately I've noticed that when I make mixes for CDs (MP3, not music CDs (read, stores more)), that the songs are all different volumes.. Some are louder, others quiet, and it is mildly annoying.

I was wondering if there is a program that allows me to select a bunch of MP3's and then have that program "equalize" their volume so they are all the same loudness.

Does such a program exist?

I'm aware of Nero's ability to stadandardize volume on audio CDs, but they are limited to about 20 songs, and I prefer to use MP3 CDs because I can store much more there, and my CD player is able to play them.

Any help with this would be great.

I have GoldWave, but I am not familiar with it's features, and mostly use it to cut out parts of songs and record various things.

Any help or recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Is there a way I can load songs from my hard drive with CD CDex, or can it only load songs off of a CD?

I downloaded it and checked it out, but when I try to add things, it seems to always try and pull from the CD-Rom drive.

Thanks again.

iTunes can do it. Check "Sound Check" in the prefs under the Audio tab.

Musicmatch Jukebox has "volume leveling" which evens out the volume of all tracks on anything you record.

Regarding iTunes, I am sadly on Windows ME and it appears it won't install unless I have 2000 or XP.

Does Musicmatch Jukebox allow you to "even out" MP3s that have already been ripped, or does it only work if done during the process of ripping the music?

Thanks.

Yes. When burning a cd from your "music library" on your pc, volume leveling is an option you can choose once you have compiled a list of tracks to burn and are ready to start the burning process. It will ask, (if you choose the option) "prepare tracks for volume leveling?" Answer yes.

note: I believe volume leveling may only be availabe in "plus" editions of Musicmatch. Wich is, you know, easy to find.
