Keyboard problems please help

Hey guys,

I just got this small labtop with windows 95 on it. It's a compaq with a intel pentuim. Whenever I try to type in commands in ms-dos I cannot do it because whenever I try "\" key, I get a "à" and some of the other keys have the same problem, I know it's a setting that I have to talk off, but I cannot find it. Any suggestions? Thanks for your time.

Mat

Check the keyboard layout and make sure it's set to English (United States) settings. You can do this in the Control Panel --> Keyboard.

if it's only in DOS then check it in the CMOS settings during boot up.

I actually can't even get into CMOS, I tried pressing all the function buttons at start-up nothing seems to work.

Try the delete ("DEL") key.

I've tried that as well, no luck. Are you sure these should work on a windows 95 labtop?
