duplicates in excel/access

I have some data (16k records)
however, around 9k of them are duplicates.
I need to remove the duplicates, without deleting the origionals.
Or to explain it a diffetrent way, I have 16k records each with one email address, some of the records have the same email address. I only need one copy of emach one.
How can I easily remove the duplicates fusing access or excel? (I only have 97)

a quick access query for dups will do it. i used to have a saved query like this, but i haven't used it in years.
basically you set up your excel sheet in Access and then run a query against it that shows the unique records based on a field. that is your 'clean' list.

In Access, you can write a query to select distinct records, it will pull only one of each value. In Excel, you can do something similiar, but I can't remember off the top of my head.

The help files in each app will give you details.
