Upload Speed Question

I've done several upload speed tests online, and they all say my upload is in the range of 200-250 kb/sec. How can I utilize that to it's full potential? Sending files via AIM is capped at like 30 kb/sec I think. How can I send someone a file as fast as our connection possibly allows?

You might think about if you want to be uploading that fast to someone, especially depending on your internet service provider. I'm assuming these are large files you're talking about - it might be best to not burn through all that bandwidth for an extended time if it will raise issues.

If not I'd set up a temporary FTP server. I use BulletProof FTP (there is a 15-day trial), but a free open-source alternative I've heard is good is FileZilla Server (http://sourceforge.net/projects/filezilla/).

Are you sure your upload speed isn't 200-250 kbit/sec and you're able to upload at 30 kbyte/sec? That sounds right if it's the case. Most people don't have 1 mbit+ upstream.

It has to be 200-250 kbit/sec. There are 8 bits in a byte. So 200-250 kbit/sec is quivelent to 25-31.25 kbytes/sec. You have to watch the B's. b=bit, B=byte. Hope that helps.
