dpi questions
How would I go about finding the dpi resolution of an image? And, is it normal for images at around 300dpi to be really big in terms of file size?
|
If you have Photoshop, you can go to resize the image and it will populate with the current dimensions and dpi.
And, yes, it is common for 300 dpi pics to be large files. 300 dpi is the common resolution for professional print graphics, whereas 72 dpi is common for web or computer screens. |
Thanks for the help!

No problem. I'm not a computer guy by any stretch, but I did spend some time doing marketing for a web company that branched out from a print company. I picked up many a PS trick from the graphic designers there.

i keep having to explain this to the head "web developer" at my company. she can never figure out why the graphics she builds at 300 dpi are goddamn massive once they get on the screen. still have no idea how she got her job.
