best way to change digital photo resolution

I am making a website for my baby, and all of my pictures are taken with a 5 MP camera. I have plenty of room on the website to store the pics, but some of my relatives have dialup, and I still want them to be able to download some of the pictures.

What is the best way to quickly convert the pictures to a file around a meg or so big? Are there any utilities that allow you to lower the resolution, and do so for awhole directory?

Thanks for your help

I would recommend Irfanview. Its a free image viewing program that allows resizing. Not sure if it does batch resizing, i know it does do batchg renaming and converting.
