Make my mouse move faster?

A few days ago my mouse crapped out on me so I went online and ordered the same one to replace it. I plugged in an old microsoft intellimouse for the time being. Now that I have my new mouse, and I plug it in, it feels very sluggish. Is there any way to boost the mouse speed past the max in the Mouse Controls?

go to your control panel, and there should be a mouse icon, then under the motion tab, there is a slider, and move the slider over to faster

this may sound silly but did you happen to change your resolution to a higher setting?

Nope just unplugged it, used a MS Mouse for a couple days, and switched back. I actually THINK it might be causing more friction on my mousepad though..

Have you tried restarting since you plugged in the new mouse? Maybe windows is messed up because of the older crap mouse?

Did you make sure the drivers and any software for your new/old mouse were reinstalled? My Logitech mouse seems to have settings that work differently than those available in the Control Panel when the extra software is installed.

You could also try the Mouse settings in Tweak UI

Is it Wireless?

The first and second generation of Microsoft Intellimouse's are REALLY sluggish simply because the wireless connection isn't as fast as a wired. My wired ball mouse (for life!!) broke the other day and a suitemate let me borrow is Intellimouse. I used it for a week and was about to pull my hair out because of the sluggish response. I couldn't play any FPS videogame and World of Warcraft was almost impossible. I felt like a 4 year old using my PC with that piece of trash. I traded with my OTHER suitemate for his CORDED optical mouse and the lag is completely gone. I'm never trusting another wireless mouse ever again.

I've had bad experiences with wireless mice as well. Flagging battery life and conflicting frequencies convinced me to move back to a corded optical mouse. No problems.

I am looking at the new Razer Diamondback mouse they just put out. I was happy with their Boomslang and expect good things from this optical mouse they made. http://www.razerzone.com/

As for your problem, I'd have to say, step backwards to start troubleshooting it. Go back to the MS Mouse you were using and see if the problem still occurs.
