SoundBlaster issue

I have an old school SoundBlaster Live! Platinum card and 5.25" drive bay in my home PC. The sound card model number is CT4760. I use Win XP with SP2 and all the updates.

I installed the card and bay in my PC a few weeks ago with no problems. At that time I did not install any sound drivers. However, I recently was getting some white noise at certain moments when playing Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory. I patched the game to no effect, so I patched the sound card driver with the recommended driver. Now the drive bay does not function. The sound card works just fine, it is only the drive bay that does not (headphone and mic jacks, as well as other inputs). I also removed the card and unplugged the connections to the bay and reconnected them, this had no effect.

Now, since the card is so old (about 5+ years) I am thinking it is no longer supported. However, I did use the driver patch suggested by Creative when I searched using my card's model number.

I can limp along right now as my card does work, but I need to get the drive bay up and working as well. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

With Creative's drivers I've had the most success using their AutoUpate software patcher, their model numbers can be a little misleading in my experience. If you've already done that I would then suggest that you use the XP driver rollback option to restore the functionality!

Ok, I am officially retarded. The Line-In 2/Mic 2 options were muted. Must have been changed when I updated the driver. Yeah, I know - I'm a scrub.

I was going to tell you to check the Line-In 2/Mic 2 options and see if they were muted. Always a good way to start your soundcard troubleshooting.
