Removing MSN Messanger
Does anyone have a full proof way to remove this program without running scripts? I have a friend that needs it removed but the problem is the program is on his pc at home and he isn't really past the basic funtions of the pc yet.

Go to Start>Run, and paste this in: RunDll32 advpack.dll,LaunchINFSection %windir%\INF\msmsgs.inf,BLC.Remove
It works to permanently remove Windows Messenger in XP.

I just renamed the folder that is is in (c:\program files\messenger) to something else (messenger old). That way windows can not find it to launch. I tried in in XP home and Pro - works with both.

Or, you could click the annoying icon on the lower right hand side of your screen, and goto options/ preferences, something like that, and shut it off.
Then , goto start (in xp), run, type msconfig, goto startup, edit the appropriate messenger stuff, then goto the services folder in msconfig, and edit the messenger stuff there also. restart, then goto the drive that has xp installed, find "program files", delete messenger, you should be completely messenger free! btw, when you delete messenger, you will get the "by deleting this, some stuff might not work, blahh, blahh...), do it anyway. |

If ya wanna get rid of MS Messenger, a real easy way is to find a Anti-Spy XP somewhere to download. There's a ton of good features in that program (simply makes editing your registry way easier) and can completely uninstall and delete MS Messenger with one check box.
