No software patents in Europe!
 

Seems like atleast some people realize that software patents is a bad bad idea. I'm celebrating today! (And yes, I'm a geek)

I think it was the correct descision.

Software is the application of prior art, generally. It's also covered by copyright law already.

I was so glad to see this. I didn't really think it would pass but was still a bit worried.

It's things like this that make me question my shitty outlook on life.

Seriously, I hadn't been watching the situation lately and assumed Deep Pockets, Inc. were still controlling it. Good news!

What has the world come to? Even the idea of software patents is horrid. Anyway one battle towards a non-corrupt world down, millions to go.

Patents in general are a horrible idea IMHO. I think software patents are the worst of them all. Who would want to patent a status bar or the minimize button. Software patents would've killed European based Open Source projects like Knoopix. Today is a glorious day for geeks everywhere :).
