how to: private filesharing?

I have some "documents" that I want to share with a few friends and family. We are all over the united states. I would just set up an FTP, but I have a dynamic IP from my DNS, so I dont think it would work.

Can I set up an FTP, and how would I? (windows XP pro)
Is there a better way?

Why would a dynamic ip not work? It's not like it changes hourly or something. For a good ftp server, use Filezilla (http://filezilla.sf.net). Make sure you have port 21 open. If you want a free domain name, go to www.dyndns.org and get a free domain and then use their client to handle your dynamic ip changes. Let me know if you need more help.

You could give WASTE a try. It's a private P2P network (also known as a friend-to-friend network). It's a GPL project so you don't have to worry about spyware and can be downloaded from source-forge here.
