Firefox: Center click won't always open link in new tab..

I used to be able to click my scroll wheel on a link and it'd open in a new tab but since I upgaded firefox center click doesn't always work so I have to right click and choose open in new tab from the menu which is just too hard :P No image links work and some TFP topic links will open in a new tab but others wont..

Are there any extension that will let middle mouse button open all links in a new tab?

Did you update the extensions for Firefox as well? Sometimes I find when I update I have to go back in and make sure my settings are all still the same, and change them if they are not.

Was it a small upgrade like 1.0.6 to 1.0.7 or did you go all of the way to the 1.5 beta? I second the "check all of your settings" comment - sometimes after an update you need to double-check that everything got set properly.

i have this problem also... seems to come and go actually...

cant finding a setting to control it...

It seems that text in bold text links on the TFP won't open in a new tab.. regular text links seem to work...
(edit: They'll open in a new tab, but not by middle clicking..)

I upgraded to 1.07 from.. 1.Hell.If.I.Know..

I checked the settings, and the only extension I had that has anything to do with tabbed browsing at all was called "Single Window" http://www.spuler.us/extensions/singlewindow.htm but it updated ith 1.07 and doesnt seem to have anything to do with the problem.

I checked all the tabbed browsing settings in the options but nothing really seems to fix it.

HOLY DAMN!!! Sorry that yours is broken, but I didn't know you could do this period!! My life has just gotten so much easier..

haha, I am in JinnKai's boat... Useful knowledge.

I figured it's Single window extension causing my problem... that took to long to figure out the stupid answer :/

So if you uninstall the extension, it fixes it? If it does, you could always try re-installing and see if it causes the problem again.

I know you have already fixed the problem, but just in case someone with the same symptoms checks this thread later, I recently lost the ability to middle-click when I upgraded my mouse driver. Easy to set back, but momentarily disconcerting.

What's even better than middle click to open new tabs, is middle click on the tab, to close it. I don't know how I got it to do it, but it work on my home comp. Not here though (here, being the linux labs at Uni).

Other handy Tab tricks (don't require extensions):

alt+tab to switch between tabs
ctrl+tab to open new tab (or double-click in the tab bar)
ctrl-click to open link in new tab

Are you sure about those?
Alt+tab switches programs (That's an OS shortcut), Ctrl+tab switches between tabs, Ctrl+t opens a new (blank) tab.

I'm with micah on this one - the command keys he lists are the ones that work for me (WinXP FF 1.0.7, FreeBSD FF 1.0.7, Debian FF 1.5b2).

Oops...that's what I get trying to use my memory. Sorry for the confusion.
