				NV 5 Silencer Rev 3.0

This revision is supposed to be compatible with Nvidia 7800 series as well as the 6800GT and 6800 Ultra. I have a 6800GT currently and hope to get a 7800GTX for Christmas. Now, due to some overheating problems with my 6800GT, I was looking to get this aftermarket cooler. But, according to www.arctic-cooling.com, the Rev 3.0 is not going to be available until November 15. At frozencpu.com, however, I'm currently looking at a Rev. 3.0 NV 5 Silencer. Is this the correct one?

Dont buy it. I have one on 6800GT and it doesn't allow good enough cooling for the memory chips.

I constantly ran into weird problems which were caused by slight memory overheating. I'm now cooling the card from the other side also (with a 12cm fan just sitting there...) and the problems go away. The models USED to come with copper pads for the memory chips. Too bad I didn't get one. Now they're using those cheap rubbery pads which don't do the job correctly. Avoid.

Thanks for the heads up. I guess I'll just hold out for now. I did replace the thermal pads on the stock cooler with some Arctic Silver 5 I have around, and that showed an immediate improvement while playing the F.E.A.R. demo (from like 78+ deg C to around 70 deg C).
