TFP trip to the range?

Now that there is a weaponry forum, this is probably inevitable:

Any tfp'ers out there want to get together for a day of shooting?

I live in Boone, NC, but I am willing to travel for about an hour in any direction.

It would be a great opportunity to try a couple different weapons. I'll bring my firearms and plenty of ammunition so long as a couple other people do the same.

Even if you don't live near me, feel free to post.

I'm up for it if people in the northern IL./southern WI. people are interested. I shoot trap, skeet, sporting clays for shotgun, I have a Ruger 10/22 and SA M1A for rifle shooting, and I compete in bullseye pistol.

I live near Knoxville, TN. We have a bunch of great ranges around here, including the 1000 yard range in Oak Ridge. It's just over an hour from you...

Sounds great. I have never had the opportunity to shoot at really long distances.

Come on down some time, my buddy is shooting for the Presidents 100 this year, he has an extra target rifle you can use. We also have a good sub-calibur/rimfire range and a trap range (if you're into that sort of thing).

That's great. What kind of target rifle is it (high-power or rimfire?). I grew up shooting on several rifle teams, but I dropped out of competition during high school. I would love to get back into competitive shooting on a less stressfull basis than before. I still have my old anschutz 54 tucked away somewhere and I have been thinking of getting involved with the IDPA.

It's a NM AR-15. No scope, no frills, just fun.

I'm in Central Texas, so that puts me about 3 hours from where you are. I do know there are a couple of TFPers in Houston, but I'm not so sure about their gun interests.

I'd like to take a trip to the range, but I don't own any guns, really.

At the moment I only own a stainless Colt 1991 with the five inch barrel. Don't own a rifle. But have really been interested in buying a pre-ban AR-15 if I can. Ever been to a Saxet convention? Really nice gun shows. My brother purchased a nice compact stainless Colt 45 from a Saxet show. Has a short, bull barrel with no front bushing. Real nice concealed weapon. Havent seen any Sexat Gun shows around, but next one comes to Houston I'll definately be there.

It's round about the middle of May, down in Hanson, MA (about 20 miles south of Boston). I'll put up info next year prior to the show (in fact I think I did a thread about this year's in the General forum, don't know if it got moved over here or not). Anyway, here's a link to my club's page on it:
