I love Snape so much. My friends all thought he was going to turn out to be a dick. I was the only one in his corner. Sweet sweet vindication.

Also, I could stare at Alan Rickman as Snape all day. He would be in my Room of Requirement. Unf.

    Ohhh yeeeaaah.

I have a knack for picking out the antihero in a story. My avatar is the antihero from Naruto. I had a hunch and stuck with him through the years, and I did an enormous happy dance when I turned out to be totally right.

Very good, though we all know no spell would be needed if either of either CinnamonGirl or I were in the picture.

    Just saying.

  7. I have never seen a movie version of this book that comes anywhere near doing the original book justice. The monster is far more articulate and empathetic that any of the shambling Hollywood brutes.

Shit, Snape doesn't stand a chance.

Over the years there have been quite a few books I have re-read.
    In no particular order:
Douglas Adams Mostly Harmless, and the rest of the Hitchiker's Guide series.
    I, Jedi
    Where the Red Fern Grows
    The Hobbit
Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day
Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs
    Where the Wild Things Are
    My Side of the Mountain
    The Ancient One
Psalms (yes, in the Bible. Solomon rocked!)
    Watership Down
    A Sand County Almanac
    The Secret Garden

My book collection is kind of big and unwieldy, I don't think I've ever sold or thrown out a book.
I still enjoy tearing through the Animorph series once every 5 years or so...

    But the books I love.
The books I read every year or two, the books that came instantly to mind when I read the thread title...
Are the Ancient Future trilogy by Traci Harding
Reading that trilogy always ends with me reading the second trilogy, the Celestial Triad , but it is the first three I love the most.
The story blends fantasy, time travel, alternate universes, and our history together in an adventure tale. It also has a girl power vibe to it, but it doesn't overwhelm the story. My screen name is actually taken from this series. Taliesin is the merlin (Wiseman) of King Maelgwns court.
The ideas in these books have guided me down my current life path.
I own this trilogy in physical form at home down south and I have it with me on my Kindle.
    Hmmm...
    I never realized I was such a fan-boy...

Many times over, no. At least twice, yes, but not often.

Cold Mountain, by Robert Frazier. I read the book first, then saw the movie, watched the movie again, then decided to re-read the book to refresh my memory.

The Road, by Cormac McCarthy. Another situation where the movie inspired me to re-read the book.

To Kill A Mockinbird, by Harper Lee. I love this book. On a side note, I firmly believe that Horton Foote deserved his Oscar for the screenplay.

A Tree Grows In Brooklyn, by Betty Smith. I read it as a teenager, re-read at some point, and plan to read it again.

I'd also include the novels of Stephen King, especially The Shining.
