Cemeteries: Photos, Drawings, Etc.

Houston, TX. The largely forgotten Donnellan Crypt in downtown. The two bodies were moved to a cemetery in the early '60s, but the crypt remains mostly intact. I think that the old Magnolia Brewery was built on top of the crypt.

 

It is such a shame the walled off Oscar Wilde's tombstone after they cleaned it.
I really do think that it was very in keeping with the nature of the edifice and the artist to have the kisses on it.
They could have easily come up with a way to keep it from eroding the stone.

 

Most likely staged, but still cool.

 

At first look I thought fake, but I found several photos taken from different angles.

 

As I understand it...under at least one religion in India bodies are taken to a tower where they left naked for nature to take its course.

 

A bit crowded; were they buried in a standing position?

We saw several similar grave markers in Scotland. Some were weathered to the point of being nearly smooth.
