Tuberville is ending blockade of most military nominees, clearing way for hundreds to be approved

    About damn time!
He was pissing everyone off, including the Pentagon and the GOP.

Talk about grandstanding and doing serious impact by it.

Probably got told by and convinced finally that his true protest, abortion is likely going to be a losing battle for the GOP.
"Dude...shhh...the ladies, they don't like it, we're going to lose votes"

    Uhh, y'think?

Well, at least the Pentagon can go back to worrying about other things...things they should be worried about, not paychecks and promotions.

They really need to change that rule where any ONE senator can stop anything.

I love how the conservatives jump all over this stuff when it's A) gay sex, but most importantly B) connected to a Democrat.
If it's connected to one of their own there isn't a word.
And the Democrats won't jump on it because they don't want to seem like hypocrites and they hope when something like this happens the conservatives will be cool.
Which is just dumb to hope for.

I think this will die after the initial Flash Bang. The guy was fired, & what he did has no real political connection to the senator he worked for, but of course the Repubs will work that angle for what it's worth.

This story broke while things are winding down in DC. Will that help the story die, or will the slow news period give it extra attention?

    AFIC:
It's just a Senate employee who decided risqué sex in a Senate chamber would be fun. And I'm 99% convinced it's happened many times before. Gay & working for a Dem (or Repub) doesn't matter.

Retiring House Republican says $174,000 isn't enough money for members of Congress: 'Most of us don't have wealth'

Uhh...yeah, duh. Y'think the citizens you represent don't understand inflation and not getting adequate raises??
Where's the US smallest violin? (probably been hocked)

Why don't y'all do your damn jobs??
Make some laws to raise rates...or at least make them in sync with whatever inflation there is and the LOCAL economy. (not just friggin' nationwide)

THEN you can give each other raises. (and handjobs in a circle jerk)

Too many of you are beholden to your ACTUAL income sources, business, influencers and lobbyists.
Then y'all quit and get cushy jobs from the same. Much less any insider trading you did while on the inside.

Start making the citizens lives better, then you can talk about your own.

And I'm a damned capitalist, BTW...and get that there's going to be a bit of corruption and gladhanding.
But y'all have made it a mountain from the molehill most reasonable people would expect.

I don’t think the Dems are going to be happy until they can get the crazy to go away
    Or get in power/control again

I think they’re looking at McCarthy as a pest
An itch to distract the rest of the GOP, especially the extremists
The enemy of your enemy is your friend or at least added chaos and hindrance to the GOP.

Even if he doesn’t have the juice, he’s another weight to anchor down any effort of the extremists
And can be another factor to make them look bad.

The GOP is their own worst enemy (Chump to himself too)
Their ploy is saying, “by all means” while they drive over a cliff

My frustrations with the Dems is, while I don’t mind them letting the GOP and Chump hurt themselves.
It should NOT be the only play

This is WAY too important and impactful
And Biden and the Dems should be being aggressive…ACT.

This is not the typical politics

So McCarthy can deviously revenge all he wants
But the Dems should be attacking
    This is for the nation

Superficially the following story is about Ted Cruz, but it does/could include members of Congress, so I'm posting it here.*

Ted Cruz wants lawmakers to get security escorts through America’s airports

So the assholes screwing over the USA, & our allies, in general in efforts to advance their specific agendas would receive protection in public airports.

And that protection would cover things such as sneaking off to have covert affairs and avoid dealing with constituents literally freezing to death.

What's next, expanding the Secret Service to cover Senators under special circumstances? Oops, I shouldn't give them ideas  .

If you represent the people you need to be available to the people.

How would Cancun Cruz react if he were facing the same threats as a Democrat politician, or a member of the judiciary, trying to stand up to the maga movement, facing the wrath of the hard right nutcases? He would be another Republican politician wearing a diaper ;).

    * Edit: I keep feeling compelled to defend in which thread I place my posts. What a strange feeling.

Uhh, the mods keep the place maintained and organized.
You don't have to defend, no one else does. If a post is moved, go with the flow.

    It's a thankless job.

    The GOP, where hypocrisy thrives.

    https://www.thedailybeast.com/gop-r...t-disagreeing-with-impeachment-op-ed-he-wrote

The hypocrisy is bad enough, but Mark Green promising an impeachment proceedjng well in advance of the actual process starting is equally bad.

I wonder if it's possible to accurately say how much money is spent on impeachment proceedings. I'm sure there are some estimates for the two proceedings against NPD Trump.

Senate passes Ukraine funding in predawn vote — The Hill

Well, this time the Senate is sensible…

But the Speaker will probably kill it in the House
Not even bringing it to the floor for a vote.

This is how a nation might die
It will be up to Europe, NATO allies and the EU to invest to present that
At until, if a Dem majority wins on Election Day.
And even then, they’ll have to survive without US funding until next January, when the new representatives get in.

    Lots of IFs

Hopefully this is more than a short-term gain.

Live updates: New York holds special election to replace George Santos

An alternate view of the special election from
    FauX News.

    https://www.foxnews.com/politics/de...al-special-congressional-election-in-new-york

The assmouths on our local right wing "news radio" station blamed the Republicans in the House because of "...running Santos off because they didn't like him." Yes, that was their brief explanation of why George Santos got booted from the HOR.

Mitch McConnell to end 17-year tenure as top US Senate Republican — Reuters

Well, this will put a twist into everything
    Turtle definitely needs to retire
And he’s done some truly rotten things

But lately, he’s actually been a stabilizing force, some sense of reason and anti-Chump

And no guarantees, the GOP senators will choose someone better.

We will have to take a wait and see attitude

Half of senior staffers in Congress are so fed up that they may quit

Seems that they loved to hate each other too.
Frankly, Congress should pass laws to prevent the hate.
But Congress itself is part of the problem.

The could at least "pound" on those that are undiplomatic under ethics rules.
    Start enforcing them.
    Push civility.

    IMHO, it's all imploding.
Need to get rid of the troublemakers (ALSO find out if they're being funded by improper sources)

Git a move on, stop sittin' on your duffs.

Is there a vid with audio of this?
    How about audio?

    https://thehill.com/homenews/house/...hearing-leaves-lawmakers-shaking-their-heads/

A few general take a aways:
Many lawmakers hit the booze, hard, after hours.
    Greene wasn't invited to NYC.
The Dems were in a foul mood over the delay caused by the NPD Trump ass suckers.
The sidetracking fueled by Orange Kool-aid and booze caused the clear thinkers (relatively speaking) to get even more POD.
Out tax dollars hard at work.

Scott Perry, poster boy for Republican hypocrisy.

Mike Johnson, a good white Christian man who puts gawd and family third...after one keeping his position and two the GOP.
