Dating FAIL: Your Stories

A little lead-in; While throwing out a ton of junk in my house, I found a note from a girl I was interested in shoved in the pages of a yearbook and thought I'd tell the story of yet another failure, MeltedMetalGlob style!

To begin, it was my senior year in high school (1990) and I was trying to date a girl named Brandi. She was initially amused that I took any interest in her, but always had an excuse as to why she was always unavailable for a date that weekend. ("I have to prime my dad's car for a camouflage paint job") After a month of my not taking a hint, she finally passed me a note that basically said, "You're a pest, leave me alone already!"

Heartbroken, I turned to her younger sister as an impromptu therapist, who at the time had broken up with her boyfriend Dave after the two of them had dated an almost entire school year. I could see why she liked him, he was tall, dark, handsome and his parents had a lot of money. She commented that he seemed somewhat distant, though- which is why she chose to end it.

Soon I received another note from Brandi, which contained an odd reference that she was hanging out with her sister's ex:


As it turned out (I found out a few years after high school ended) that this was in fact a lie- they were not just friends, they were fucking and eventually married! (I believe they are still together after some 35+ years together.)

I wonder what her younger sister had made of it all, that her ex was more interested in her older sister. For me, just another crash-and-burn episode in my undistinguished dating career.
