The High Roller sushi roll that sells for $1000 will be served at Koi restaurant in New York : It starts with marinated and poached fois gras that is covered with succulent Langoustine (lobster). Then the roll is brushed with saffron/vanilla bean butter and encrusted with caviar. Finally, when the roll is served the Chef comes tableside to shave white Alba truffles and drizzle them with 100 year balsamic.
I would try a bite or two if someone else paid for it. Of course "fois gras" and "Langoustine" are completely foreign terms to me, and I have a hard time paying more than $20 for a meal unless it is something like freshly caught and smoked wild salmon in the Puget Sound or freshly made clam chowder on the coast that you eat while looking at the ocean. This area boasts of their potatoes and lentils...uh yeah.
I just can't picture raw lobster as something I would enjoy texturally. I just envision it as being extremely chewy, though I could be mistaken. As for food porn... it's kobe, baby.
I think the original intention was food that had sat in front of you at some point. Your own photo... He'd tried to post a photo of some awesome Scotch eggs he'd had in San Francisco, etc. Good call, Mr. King.
I don't know how pornographic this is but it was very tasty. Plum and fig crisp. I served it with a good drizzle of homemade caramel sauce and whipped cream. The funny thing was, the whole dessert was an afterthought. My oxtail ragu was in the oven and I was relaxing with a beer when I realized I'd forgotten about dessert. Crisps are dead simple to make and I had some fruit in the fridge. The caramel sauce came at the last minute as I was boiling the tagliatelle for the ragu. I like to plan things so when I quickly improvise, I am usually not satisfied with the results. This was an exception. PS: the bottom edge is where I tasted it... more than once.
I had the endless shrimp at Red Lobster two days ago. Loved it. I find their ads for shrimp more appetizing than the lobster ads.
I made pizza a few weeks ago and absolutely loved it! Made with Snowy's crust here: http://www.thetfp.com/threads/freezing-pizza-dough.1315/#axzz1bdDvRsea And it has Olives, Goat Cheese, Asparagus and Chicken on it... and the sauce is my home made creation, I honestly didn't follow a recipe for it.
Geschnetzeltes mit Käsespätzle. God knows what that translates into in English. Couldn't find a decent picture containing both, so here goes one for each. Geschnetzeltes Käsespätzle
Sliced meat in gravy with cheese spaetzle. I'd eat it. I love spaetzle, and I imagine it's better with cheese.
