Ghostbusters Limited Theatre Rerelease

I'm not sure how I missed this, but I discovered today that Ghostbusters will get a limited rerelease this month!

About 500 theatres will show the movie on October 13th, 20th, and 27th. So far, the only way to find out online where it's playing that I've found is a Facebook application (although, to be honest, I didn't look very long.)

Unfortunately for me, the closest place showing it is an hour away. I'm totally down for making the trip, but it would be nice if it were playing in town.

Are you excited about this? Do you think it's ridiculous? I have to say, if Hollywood's going to be unoriginal, I much prefer bringing an original movie back to remaking it completely (I'm looking at you, Footloose.)

 

I enjoyed both of the Ghostbusters movies. Mindless fun.

Cool, I wouldn't mind seeing the Ghostbusters movies at the movies again.
You can't top that big screen and surround sound, when that ambulance with its distinctive wail is zooming through the city and the music is playing.
Brings chills just to recall it.

Wish they had it in more theatres.

Great fun but how will it play with today's audience?

 

There is a very credible rumour going around that Ghostbusters III is alive. Not sure I care to see it but I have a feeling that this re-release may be an attempt to prime the pump, so to speak.

 

My only concern is that 3 just won't be quite the same. It's been so long since the last one and not many 'franchises' can successfully pass the reins on as it looks like the third installment is planning to do.

 

Yup, that pretty much sums up my fears, as well.

Hopefully, the whole movie won't be about the passing-of-the-reins, but just the last part.
That way, we get to make up our minds if we're going to invest any more time in that universe, and we still get to walk away with a movie about/with our favorite ghostbusting protagonists.

 

I have a strong feeling that this is going to be the same as Indiana Jones 4...

But wait... they never made an Indiana Jones 4. Right!?

Just like there are only three Star Wars films.
