Let me just put it out there: I love horseradish.

Right now, I'm having horseradish hummus with pita chips. Good stuff.

What do you do with horseradish?

No offence, but you asked. I don't partake.

    Run away screaming?
So many other spicy, snappy flavors that I adore, I don't know why I don't like horseradish.
Maybe it's from getting generic wasabi for so many years.
I do like real wasabi... is that horseradish?

I'm a big fan of horseradish.

I like putting some fresh grated horseradish on burgers from time to time. I also love all sorts of horseradish flavored dips and sauces. :D

Oh, not at all! I recognize that mine is a minority taste. Offbeat. Kinky, even.

In agreement with Noodle, but far more dramatic... Run screaming away from it wiping my tongue with paper towels if I happen to have gotten it on something I'm trying to eat.

    I love it.
Today I bought some jumbo raw shrimp and a nice piece of salmon for us for New Years' Eve dinner tomorrow.
There will be fresh horseradish in the dipping sauce for the shrimp and horseradish on the side with my salmon.
If anyone is interested it is very easy to grow and harvest your own horseradish roots. I have a big bushy plant growing in my yard. It's pretty much a weed. Once it's established you can't kill it.

Mix it with ketchup and vinegar to make shrimp sauce. Mix it with sour cream and toss it on roast cow.

I'll have to look up it's weather tolerance. My growing season is pretty short; but I'd consider it.

Wasabi is closely related to horseradish.

I don't actually know if I've ever had real wasabi, which means I probably haven't.

Yep, mix in with dip...for chips.
    Makes a good shrimp dip.
Good on a roast beef sandwich.

I love it with Gefilte Fish

    Fear not.
I'm in upstate NY with a very short season.
I live on a hill with no topsoil. Just clay with embedded rocks.
The horseradish just eats it up.

    Oh boy... horse radish...

When I was twelve, or maybe younger, my family was having our usual lazy passover, and I decided to finally try the horse radish (which I had been told I would hate). My dad said that it's an acquired taste, so I should eat a whole stick of it at once to start out (it made sense back then). I popped a little stick of it into my mouth. I don't like spicy foods. Needless to say, bad memories. I still put just a little bit on certain foods for flavoring, though.

I have it twice a year at the Passover sedarim. That is way more than enough for me. IMHO, horseradish tastes like the shit one takes the morning after really hot Kung Pao feels.

I put horseradish on many things for the added kick.

But it is now on the back shelf and replaced with homemade sriacha butter that works as a spread, filling, topping, etc.
