Unlike alot of TFP members...
I didn't come for the porn.
I was bored at work and I knew porn was on the banned list of Internet sites, so I used to search jokes that I could copy & paste into a chain e-mail. Mostly it was Garfield comics, but eventually I found my way into Tilted Nonsense.
A lot of my first posts were just "haha" at different jokes I stole. This was probably TFP3? Maybe 4? Hal(x) was still around posting photos of his cock.
I was young and I used to have a different screen name back then. Ishmal. An old nickname.
I always kept the TFP at the back of my mind, for years & years I kept control of the email address TFPer@hotmail.com.
But eventually I lost it by not signing in often enough.
Obviously I came back this year, I'm a new member and we have a new TFP.
I'm loving it.

 

I remember JTK (James T Kirk)! completely forgot about him until I read your post. Was he an engineer or something? We had a pretty good thread going on the old board (guess where the picture was taken in Canada) and I think he was big into bridges. Or maybe I'm thinking of somebody else.

I can't remember the reason why I joined up, but it must have been in late 2004, or 2005 - I was at work and just searching for something and I noticed that the background for TFP matched the colour of an Oracle SQL forum that I needed to use as reference. So I could fend off the yawns by reading this and nobody at work would know the difference.

Lots of good discussion kept me coming around, as well as engaging games such as the picture guessing. Lots of fine looking members too as I recall.

Charlatan had a great thread going using his phone to post pictures (the world through my phone?). Innovative at the time. There were a few local meetups as well, I can't get away too often but I did meet with a few of the local members once or twice. checking out the famous Dangerous Dan's Diner in Toronto ...

Lots of members updated their names as well so it's hard to tell if they made it over and stuck. One guy I miss is BigBen and his amazing stories of the Canadian military.

I was introduced to TFP by an ex-boyfriend. I stayed and I like.

 

IIRC from TFP 4, the criticism was minimal unless specifically requested, and nearly always constructive. Most of the responders were artists is some form.

Was James T. Kirk the fellow in Canada? If yes, he provided excellent input to the folks who asked for advice re swinging, etc. He explained things very clearly based on personal experience without sounding purient.

 

I came to TFP by way of Philosophy, and The TFP thru change.
