    Oooh, more paranoia porn!

I think a civil war is more likely in response to the plutocracy rather than any measures regarding gun regulations.

It would be different, of course, if Obama was actually trying to take all the guns.

The Tea Party movement? Occupy Wall Street? Both of these were made possible by the environment created and perpetuated by the plutocracy.

It will get worse before it gets better by the look of things.

    Gun Violence Reduction Executive Actions
Today, the President is announcing that he and the Administration will:
    1. Issue a Presidential Memorandum to require federal agencies to make relevant data available to the federal background check system.
    2. Address unnecessary legal barriers, particularly relating to the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act, that may prevent states from making
information available to the background check system.
    3. Improve incentives for states to share information with the background check system.
    4. Direct the Attorney General to review categories of individuals prohibited from having a gun to make sure dangerous people are not slipping through the cracks.
    5. Propose rulemaking to give law enforcement the ability to run a full background check on an individual before returning a seized gun.
    6. Publish a letter from ATF to federally licensed gun dealers providing guidance on how to run background checks for private sellers.
    7. Launch a national safe and responsible gun ownership campaign.
    8. Review safety standards for gun locks and gun safes (Consumer Product Safety Commission).
    9. Issue a Presidential Memorandum to require federal law enforcement to trace guns recovered in criminal investigations.
    10. Release a DOJ report analyzing information on lost and stolen guns and make it widely available to law enforcement.
    11. Nominate an ATF director.
    12. Provide law enforcement, first responders, and school officials with proper training for active shooter situations.
    13. Maximize enforcement efforts to prevent gun violence and prosecute gun crime.
    14. Issue a Presidential Memorandum directing the Centers for Disease Control to research the causes and prevention of gun violence.
    15. Direct the Attorney General to issue a report on the availability and most effective use of new gun safety technologies and challenge the private sector to develop innovative technologies.
    16. Clarify that the Affordable Care Act does not prohibit doctors asking their patients about guns in their homes.
    17. Release a letter to health care providers clarifying that no federal law prohibits them from reporting threats of violence to law enforcement authorities.
    18. Provide incentives for schools to hire school resource officers.
    19. Develop model emergency response plans for schools, houses of worship and institutions of higher education.
    20. Release a letter to state health officials clarifying the scope of mental health services that Medicaid plans must cover.
    21. Finalize regulations clarifying essential health benefits and parity requirements within ACA exchanges.
    22. Commit to finalizing mental health parity regulations.
    23. Launch a national dialogue led by Secretaries Sebelius and Duncan on mental health.

Some are substantive, some are fluff....none are unconstitutional or threaten second amend rights or are an impeachable offense by any stretch of right wing paranoia.

Oh, they're totally fine with it....

"I warned you this day was coming and now it's here. It's not about protecting your children. It's not about stopping crime. It's about banning your guns … period."
    —Wayne LaPierre, NRA executive vice-president

NRA promises 'fight of the century' over Obama's bold gun control plan | World news | guardian.co.uk

LaPierre's comment is an incendiary "this is it" comment, and now I'm sure the neo-fascist "patriots" are preparing for whatever it is they think is "it."

The Atlantic piece here has a good argument. The one executive order the NRA should fear the most is this one: allow the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to research gun violence. "[...] by allowing the CDC to conduct research on guns, we'd know more about what happens when good guys have guns."

I don't like violence. Usually in my opinion when violence is the answer the question is wrong. But if someone accidentally chopped Wayne LaPierre balls and cock off and shoved them down his throat I don't think I'd lose any sleep. That is assuming he has genitalia.

“Our founding fathers were very concerned about us having separation of powers. They didn’t want to let the president become a king… In this bill, we will nullify anything the president does that smacks of legislation. I'm afraid that President Obama may have this king complex sort of developing ... I think there's a history of this arrogance.”

I understand that Paul needs to do his job as a pseudolibertarian, but he's not helping in the "tyranny is seizing the republic" realm.

I can't help but notice that quite often, the same people who want to embrace the "infringement" clause of the Second Amendment with the strict constructionists' icy grip of death (usually ignoring the "well-regulated militia" clause as clearly contexted by the notes from the Constitutional convention, the correspondences of Madison, Jefferson, and Adams, and the notes from the ratifying conventions, where the meaning of all the amendments-- most of which were based on proposals made at the Constitutional convention and rejected from incorporation into the initial document there) are quite often the same people who shun strict constructionism and do their best to ignore the "establishment" clause of the First Amendment.

This doesn't really have anything to do with Constitutional rights, or the infringement thereof. It has to do with right-wing fanatics who loathe anything even claiming the illusion of "liberal" politics (and Obama is barely even scratching the surface of progressive politics-- I wish he were far more progressive than he is), because in their xenophobia, fear, and anger, they crave the rigid security of laissez-faire plutocratic fascism tarted up as conservative democratic-republicanism.

So, you're basically saying that there are many out there that want what they want when they want it
and kick & scream, if they don't get what they want,
and bitch & complain that others aren't doing what they want...or what they think they should do.

Gun rights activists are planning a nationwide “day of resistance” on 23 February to protest Obama's 23 unconstitutional (which ones?) executive actions.

Or maybe to honor the Bushmaster .223, the weapon used in Newtown.

Any over/under on how many shootings at these events?

I don't understand this. Impeachment is done through the Senate, which is Democrat controlled (53-45). Impeachment requires a 2/3 majority, which means Republicans would need to win almost every Senate seat in the 2014 election cycle to even hope to get to that range... and with recent GOP insanity and instability there's effectively no chance of that happening.

    Seriously, rape is God's plan?

Actually, impeachment means the accusation, which originates in the House, via a vote on articles of impeachment. The trial is held in the Senate. Thus, both Andrew Johnson and Bill Clinton were technically impeached in the House, but found not guilty in the Senate.

Oh, so it's similar to their 148 votes on repealing Obamacare knowing full well it'd never pass... just because?

Seriously GOP... what happened to you?

You make it sound like whatever is happening to them has stabilized. Have you any indication of this?

As testament to how little they have learned after the last two elections, they probably believe it's in the bag.

I'm constantly amazed at what politically motivates Americans. This is mostly in contrast to what doesn't politically motivate them.

What a queer bunch. Queer indeed.

Is anyone seriously trying to impeach Obama? I mean, other than some lunatics on the internet that no one serious pays attention to anyway? I mean...... there were people screaming for W to be impeached, too. It seems to come with the territory. Doesn't mean we have to dignify it by treating it seriously.
