When I say it takes itself very seriously, I don't mean that its plot is simple, straightforward, or direct. I mean that it's somber, gritty, and portentous. It doesn't have any light, cheesy comedy as The Almighty Johnsons does, for example.

Personally, my favorite is Lucifer in Constantine (I watch that scene again and again, there's just something about it)
And of course, don't forget Fargo. Incredible character actor...and I mean it truly "character' not just non-main man...the guy takes on such juicy roles that you can sop it up like a biscuit.

And that's the thing, most of the actors they've cast are like this. Fits like a great glove.
    Full of flavor and energy.

Well worth watching if just for this alone.

Part of the problem for the old Gods is that they have absorbed (or lost) powers by being in America.
If you are a mad Irish god in America unfortunately you are going to take on the nature of a fucking leprechaun because that is what we tend to believe in here.
Jins wind up as cab drivers and Mr. Fancy talks in Black Power argot.
America can make powerful gods, Ms. Media is a total badass, Technology Boy is a scumbag, but we kind of fuck up the old gods.

That doesn't become apparent until much later, but yes that's what we start to figure out as the story unfolds.

Best lines of the new episode...

    "Seemed only fair."
    "Yeah, that does seem fair"

Made me break out laughing :D

Man, I've got a warped sense of humor
Then again I'm not alone...someone had to write it and act it out. ;)

    Ep5 was freaking amazing.
Gillian Anderson is a treasure to be sure.
This show pretty much proves that the industry has missed what a bad-ass she is.

I've heard of having someone by the balls,
but that takes it to new heights. (so to speak... ;))

    Great season close.
    Looking forward to next season.
