Man, I'm going to miss his jokes...the guy had a good sense of humor. :D
Obama's top 10 jokes at the correspondents' dinner - POLITICO

Well, I guess at least a majority of the nation thinks he's doing a good job...if you call 52% good after many months of being in the neg.
But I'll give him credit for helping get the country out of a mess. (not the only person...but still helped.
President Obama Weighs His Economic Legacy

I wonder how people will view him after the fact??
We seem to beat up our Presidents while they're on the job.

Obama at war: A failed orator or a long-game strategist?
Obama as commander in chief: Two experts offer opposing views.

    Can't it be both???
Why does it have to be one or another? Why do we have to explain it in such linear terms?

It's complex...an ongoing and changing dynamic.
Sure it sells newspapers...but why do we need to think in black & white?
    Reality is messy.
    Humans are messier.

Questions is, was it effective overall?
Even in a damned game players can have errors, penalties and lull points...but still win.

The ‘Anti-Business’ President Who’s Been Good for Business

Yeah, I'd say he's done a good job.
By any standard, except for racists & xenophobes.

    The stats don't lie here.
Interesting perspective...and great interview of the man himself.

I'd say he gets to take a victory lap...but he still has to deal with GOP led Congress and make sure he has a sane successor.
Working since before the beginning....and will do it up until the end.

The guy does the grind well, whether you think his policies are good or not.

How Obama went from reluctant warrior to drone champion

Actually, I like Obama's projection of power and leveraging the drone and special forces to great effect.
I'm not in denial that US presidents unfortunately have a need to act with military.

The whole idea that he put out was either or both a political stance to encourage the liberal side or citizens simply tired of the boots on the ground situation
AND/OR a truly semi-naive mindset before getting into the "seat" and seeing what the bad guys are REALLY doing and fucked up it REALLY is.

    What do you think?
Do you think it's not enough?
That's he's betrayed the "premature" award of the Nobel Peace Prize and his liberal supporters.
Or do you think it's balanced?
Or do you think he doesn't do enough in certain areas...and too much in others??
It could be all of the above too.

It's a complicated world out there.

    Street Pattern Very Tilted

I can't claim to know enough to critique foreign policy. But drones are a practical way for a First World country to project force. And in general, I trust him and his administration to make reasonable foreign policy decisions.

Nice run, so far (good with the bad...but mostly good)
It's not all his credit...but I don't think he hurt it.

Obama to make a speech to address the nation in Dallas about the shootings.
    COMFORTER IN CHIEF

Yeah, just think of Trump in that role...

** although I wonder how Hillary would do??? Obama'esque? Maybe, but I doubt it...he's got a talent others don't.

Obama finds unlikely ‘support group’ in Bush

Good to see them doing well together.
It IS a unique position to deal with.

    Opposites can get along.

I've said, GWB started doing it right near the end his term...it's too bad the damage had been done already by then. Hopefully history treats him better than we did.
He at least has some honor and integrity. I wish he had been aware more of the cronies around him from the start. (Cheney, etc...uhg)

At least Obama has really kept a tight rein and been aware himself.

I agree with Obama here...and it should be applied to any and all candidates.
    Now and in the future.

I'm tired of party representatives ignoring stupidity of their nominees and candidates, just to support and keep face of their party.
And if Clinton did the same at the scale and scope that Trump has, I'd expect the Dems to do it right.

(**and please don't use Benghazi or the email scandals to equate it - one is a Red Herring, the other is the legal equivalent of smoking pot - let's get real on scale, scope and context)

Why does Obama have to be the moral standard-bearer in this day and age??
Shouldn't adults all around call out their people's words and actions?

I am very impressed with his use of Presidential Pardons.
    Obama issues record-breaking 214 commutations

I just hope that they get a bonus of a job and their voting rights back.
Because I guess this is just a first step.

I'm not a bleeding heart liberal...but sometimes Justice isn't justice.
We need to be more pragmatic and situational.
And realize laws are immutable and unmovable at times.

The principle can be too black & white, the easy solution not subtle enough.
And being "strong" can be weak...and cost too much.

Just like we drive cars...you need to look down the road to see what's the best direction and if there are any dangers.
Politicians can't afford to be short sighted.
Or at least the citizens they represent can't afford them to.

    wye Getting Tilted

I'm pleased with this move both on its own small scale and as a message to signal wide reform.

214 is very small considering that 84,746 people were serving time for drug offenses in US federal prisons as of 25 June 2016. That's almost half the total number of federal prison inmates: BOP Statistics: Inmate Offenses

Once Skeptical of Executive Power, Obama Has Come to Embrace It

    Regulator or Irregulator???
neither really pushed, he's more pragmatic
and to give the benefit of the doubt, Congress has been shit for acting (for whatever reason...)

But he's been really good at, which most don't notice...his administration enforces the laws on the books. More so than previous prezs, GOP or Dem.
even if he objects under ideal, like immigration. (his had deported more than any other, even GWB...not something to be proud of, but they did what was law...plus they went after violating businesses too, that's good IMHO)

    Reality vs. Perception.
    Do you see the same??

Middle class incomes had their fastest growth on record last year
Uninsurance rate drops to the lowest level since before the Great Recession

    Maybe doing a good job??
    Thanks Obama.

**Actually, he said this himself...showing he DOES read the newspapers and internet memes. (too hip...made me laugh, going to miss his "in the know" humor and attitude:D )

Obama to GOP: You built Trump

I didn't know which thread to put this in but agreed.
I've seen what they've put Obama through...his whole campaigns and administration.
Even he's saying, you made your bed...lie in it.

You throw mud...then you're going to get slimed too. Don't be shocked by the smell.

I don't know how Obama dealt with it.
And I wouldn't be surprised if they put Hillary through the same thing, if she's prez.

It's as if they never learn their lesson, like Dick Dastardly or Wile E. Coyote.
Bring back the respect and integrity.

    Stop playing in the mud.

We've got one guy...doing the job "as President"
Ordering investigations, trying to protect America, trying to support the citizens.
    And he's going away...

We've got another...and he's only concerned with his ego, his business and wrecking everything that exists. (because all the leadership to be in control, are in direct opposition to the existence and mission of those entities)
And everything that was stable and built and repaired...will be gone soon.

Obama and Trump are polar opposites.
    Yin and Yang
    Construction and Destruction
    Productivity and Corruption

    Thanks Obama.
    Sincerely
    You've been a good president.

And a class act, the whole way.
    No drama, no scandal.
    A new Camelot.
    A Jedi

Guess it's time for Mordred to take over.
Or the Empire Strikes Back (cue music of impending power)
