i just stumbled across this fantastic blog:

    http://phoceephone.blogspot.com/

which is a collection of north african vinyl recordings, cleaned up, digitized and made available for your listening pleasure. there's so much cool stuff here, it kinda boggles my little mind.

which reminds me of an older favorite:

    http://www.awesometapes.com/

awesome tapes from africa. because it is. because they are.

what resources have you found that enable you to feed your various sonic monkeys? share them here.

Stating an obvious one - not for audio files but essential for the latest and greatest information on audio codecs old and new, often with input directly from the developers themselves. Also a very good site to find information on suggested encoding settings, etc.

    www.avsforum.com

A site geared towards home theaters in general, but has a pretty comprehensive list of which Blu Ray discs cut the muster for showcasing the newer Dolby and DTS recordings.

Tidbit of trivia: I actually have an online webnote / folder dispatch for these specific to audio / musical ventures and more sort of finds and archives.
In general, it is called "music discovery", but I have quite a few classifications beyond that.
I'll start with just a few samples from my Discoveries (virtual portfolio):

    - http://pool.abc.net.au/ (if you've never visited this site, check out the first piece of music I encountered)

    - http://www.nevver.com

hypem.com (music blog / search engine / discovery aggregator)
    mixwidget.org
blog.grooveshark.com (I haven't used the mainsite in quite a while, a few years now, but hopefully, it's still the best music search engine I've encountered, with all due respect to the still-submerged Seeqpod)

    + bonus(es):
This is from my Oddities and Remixes subdivision, one that directly coincides with the previous topic on the nature, of which I am still currently curating (but not yet sharing with the TFP, as starting a thread for me is like a full day investment). Anyway, whensoever I am stuck with nothing left in my queue, (it is rare) or if I feel on just gathering background history on a fresh new listen, I turn to this repository.

Last contribution: from TFP v4.0, another Tilted Music addition, Wes Mantooth's 365 Day Project.

That's about all I have to give, for this first edition. I'm sure I'll be back again, though exactly, when, if I recall at all, i can't say. I love contributing to the daily and past finds I have within my notes, so, I too hope, that even one of the above resources helps you folks invested in this topic discover something intriguing and/or superb. I look forward to any such responses pertaining. It also reminds me that I nearly have no time to invest in my own forays, and this troubles me, as it robs me of listening to music on almost a full weekly basis. I need to find time again to search out what captivates me.

Aside from the usual (Pandora, Grooveshark, Spotify, Last.fm, etc), my go-to place for music is Soma FM. Almost all of the music is some variation of trance or electronic. Groove Salad, Lush, and Secret Agent are my three favorite channels. I highly recommend the site.
