I just heard Peter died as a teen at the time the Monkees were so popular I was a big fan. God rest you Peter you will be missed.

As a young kid I liked The Monkees. While they weren't quite a "real" band--at least in the early stages--they had some good songs.

Last Train To Clarksville, Stepping Stone, I'm A Believer (which made a huge fortune for Neil Diamond).

I know now the story of the first two albums and how they weren't the band I thought they were but in 1967 I was a total fan they were the American Beatles to me.

They were a non-band that actually turned into a band.
It was Peter and Michael pushing to be real that created conflict with the show-runners.
Peter was a real musician...but nicer about it than Mike.

    I always enjoyed their shows.

Got to meet Mickey and his daughter one time in Del Mar.
Wish I could have met Peter. He seemed friendly.
At least he participated in the latter years
