QOTD #97 Did anyone keep a teen diary? Does anyone journal regularly now?

My teen diary books surfaced recently, and I had pretty much forgotten that they existed. They are from middle school and some from high school, but I'd mostly changed over to online journaling by high school. I wrote about school, boys, soccer, boys, music, boys, how much I hated my parents, boys, my job, boys, clothes, boys...

Did anyone else here keep a diary? I wrote mostly between about twelve and sixteen, although also some later than that. I did some really dumb things.

I posted this in another thread but I'll add on.
Not a diary so much as a bunch of writing.
A teacher gave me a journal and Jack Kerouac's On The Road when I was a Sophomore in high school.
    I wrote constantly.
I have literally six feet of journals packed away.
There is poetry (which is awful), story ideas (some of which aren't bad), teenage whining (which is mostly the average shit), a lot of doodling, and a few moments decent work.
In the entire six feet the decent work might fit in half a notebook.

  3. I had volumes of diaries, but I have no idea where they are today. I started in Junior High and High School. Mostly stupid teenage crap.

"I hate my parents! They're so mean!"

    Drama. Drama. Drama.

I do remember writing in them a LOT when I was on vacation. Every day about what we did (how my parents pissed me off) with little doodles of the day. I'm sure they are literary masterpieces.

I sort of journal now in my planner, but not very lengthy. It is a record of my life now, but mostly tasks and calendaring. BulletJournaling has been very good for organization. People goa bit crazy with theirs with lots of doodles and embellishments. I doodle some, but not to the degree I see on Instagram or Pinterest.

Books of bad poetry. BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAD poetry. I loved sonnets, so lots of those.

One line from a "my gf broke up with me and my life is over" poem was this.

"I was never me and you were always you"
English teacher said she liked that line. It's the only time someone has said anything I've written was good.

I blogged on Livejournal and Deadjournal for a while, but recently I deleted those and thankfully only the first page is archived on the waybackmachine.

Mine was mostly about how all women found me ugly/short/disgusting and I hated them. Inbetween those are entries that I talk about alone I was.

A lot of my depression and anxiety (ie. rage) was put on the blogs and poetry. Thank god I have drugs now.

I have journals dating back to 1991.
Topics in the early journals revolve around various children's TV shows. My penmanship was not easy to read, and is probably worse now.

I currently take the time to write in a journal about once a month.

I've have never seen you hand write something, even tho I met you in our amazing adventure in T-town. I just can't believe you don't have beautiful handwriting that you see on /r/PenmanshipPorn/.

I now don't know what is real. Is this real life?

I will send you a recent sampling of my handwriting.
Perhaps I am merely insecure, but I have never been pleased with the way I write.

I did hand-address all of our wedding invitations. And each year I hand-write Christmas cards. I practice penmanship less now that I have kids... and more actually now that I think about it... because my 4 year old is learning to write, I tend to spend a lot of time writing really stupid stuff around her to get her interested.

Part of those years I did keep diaries, one was pink with flowers and cute animals and was about 6 inches tall and had a little key. They were a holdover from childhood really. Now I primarily keep my MacJournal and have transferred those files on flash drives for many years. Sketchbooks on the other hand I've scads of those! Working on learning to bullet journal like @ZombieSquirrel mentioned, but it is slow going for me.
@Lindy how are you finding your diaries? Are they mostly enjoyable to you? :)
*Now I kind of want another go at keeping an actual locked diary.

I had a class-required journal in second grade. Pretty sure my mom still has it. We made them out of cereal boxes (mine was Golden Crisp because I liked the bear), and it consisted of some really deep stuff, like, "My bike is pink and green. I like it a lot." and "Brian is really cute. I hope we ride the same bus next year."

After that, it seems like I always had a diary or journal, though I was pretty sporadic about writing. I have quite a few stored in a trunk up in Ohio. Mostly about school and boys and the like.

I started livejournal-ing in... 2002, I believe. Back when you still needed an access code from a friend. It's all private now, but I'll still go back and reread some of it every now and then (mostly when I want to check when I started a job or moved or something, then I get caught up for a couple hours.)

Somewhere around 2005ish or so, I started keeping a pen and paper journal again. A lot of it was drunken rambling, trying to sort out how I felt about various men. Lots of angst. Picked it back up again to write about the emotionally abusive douchebag I dated for four years, and going back and rereading it towards the end really helped me break it off for good.

I haven't really journaled since then, unless you count the blogs here. Maybe I'll buy a blank book soon and start up again.

Is Deadjournal similar to LiveJournal? I used livejournals for years, then moved over to tumblr.

Deadjournal was the hip, goth, more fun, easier to mod, and better than all those guys, version of Livejournal.
