I've gotten hundreds of songs from iTunes; the other day, for the first time, I bought a whole album: Jethro Tull's Thick as a Brick.

I hadn't heard the whole thing in years, and I spent some time getting reacquainted with it.

I know it's wildly unfashionable these days, but I like this album now more than ever.

I'd like to hear what others have to say about it.

How does the title connect with what you've written, or have any relevance with the topic you want to discuss?

That was the first major concert that I ever saw. Maybe 2 weeks after I got my driver's license. Ian Anderson came out with an accoustic guitar and started solo. The rest of the band trickled in and proceeded to play an hour long version. They took a break and came out for the other half of the show.

Still good stuff, though I'm really not a fan of ITunes and their proprietary, crappy software.

It's a play on the opening line of the lyric. Seems he wants others to share their thoughts on the album.

I'm slightly afraid to listen to the music I liked as a young'n. Mostly because I'm so mentally far from where I was then. I can't imaging I could listen to any Nu Metal bands right now and feel anything but contempt for them and pity for all of the world's adolescents.

Oh, man, that's a familiar record. My dad listened to it a lot when I was a kid. Personally, I was always very drawn to the cover.

Was at the tour stop in Detroit. Great show! As I recall, the bassist wore a green tuxedo.

This is one of those instances where I know the name of the artist/band and not much else about them. Pink Floyd is on this list as well, with the exception there of a song called "Money" and that Brick in the Wall song which is one of my favourites.
My tastes run more for the 1930's/40's and then 80's/90's, but I cannot say that I have heard any songs from Jethro Tull.

I'm with Speed Gibson in part on this one. While I know the name "Jethro Tull", Don't know a thing about him or his music. Couldn't tell you what kind of music it is. I don't listen to much music these days either. Okay, popped over to Youtube and pulled up the album (this album in particular you can listen to all in one link). WOW yeah, I'm only 40. Way not my style. I mean, I don't want to have my eyes dug out with a 7-11 spork rather than listen to it, but it wouldn't be an album I'd be running out to buy or anything....

Jethro Tull is a band, not a guy. The frontman, Ian Anderson, is known for his vocals and flute playing, which gives the band its signature sound.

Ok. I'm only forty as well but I happen to like jethro tull. They are a good band with a distinct sound. And I think their music and their fan appreciation has shown their ability. That being said, there is no way in hell they deserved the Grammy for best hard rock/metal act over metallica all those years ago. But the grammy's mistake doesn't take away from tull.
