Should I go on a cruise?

My mom, grandma and aunt are all going on a cruise in 2 weeks and they said I should come with them. I don't know. I'm a 38 year old single guy. Would a cruise be fun? I've never been on one but my ma and grandma go on a couple a year and love it. What do y'all think? Would I be bored? Is there anything for single people to do on cruises?

Dude... did you never watch the Love Boat growing up? Singles *always* set a course for adventure (i.e. they get laid and find the person of their dreams).

If it's on the teevee, it must be true.

I think I'm probably gonna go. I just wanted to get the opinion of some other younger people who have gone on cruises.

So you do meet often younger Hollywood stars from the 1970's and 80's when you go on a cruise? *Calls to book one now, hopefully it is someone beside The Captain and Tenille.*

and on serious note, I would go in a heartbeat. I have spent more than a few months of my life floating around on a big boat but never as a passenger.

I believe it depends on what you like to do and how you like to travel. I have friends who swear by cruises. They aren't the most adventurous types and they like to lounge poolside or on the beach as a big part of their vacation.

Many cruises have very robust activity schedules. You can see an offering of activities from Norwegian Cruise Lines.. They have casinos, shows, shopping, wine tastings, golf, surfing, and many other activities. You should check the ship and line that you're family is interested in booking and determine from there if those things interest you. Ask if they can give you a sample itinerary of the daily activities.

Shuffleboard on the Lido deck at 1 o'clock!
Skeet shooting off the port bow at 3 o'clock!
All you can eat buffet in the dining hall at 5 o'clock!
    Bed-time at 6 o'clock!

Make sure it's not a senior cruise. :)

I found out that it's a Carnival Cruise. Leaves from Galveston and travels to different Mexican ports. I dunno. I've spent a lot of time in Mexico at the various tourist beach towns. I don't think this would be that great for me. Maybe if the cruise was going some place I haven't been I might consider going.

A cruise is what you make of it.

Some of the best days on board are actually port days - the boat clears out BIG TIME and I had a blast having the ship to myself and just doing what I wanted.

Yep. This sounds very thorough and very thoroughly explains why I've never wanted to go on a cruise.
I get very antsy, hate shopping, golf, casinos--games in general are not my forte. I like some 'shows'--but more theatre and I live near Chicago, where for the right price you can see it all. When someone tells me about their cruise they tend to talk a lot about the food. I have yawn-inducing 'issues' with food and access to loads of all the food I could want just makes me anxious.
But different strokes and all, right?
