Pretty straightforward. Songs about killing, dying, loved ones lost, contemplating the inevitable, etc.

Sorry if this thread ends up being a downer, but that's reality for you. Chin up.

This first one was one of my early forays into this musical theme. I loved it as an angst-ridden teen. (Just wait until 3:56, yo.)

Okay, I still like it. (I really should revisit early Metallica soon. It's been a while.)

This is a classic of course.

    Did you say horror punk?

    ...

Prime directive: Exterminate the whole human race.

Come, sweet death; one last caress.

The corpses all hang, headless and limp...

Heard this one for the first time a few weeks ago. I had to pull over because I was crying so much.

    Then there's this one:

I reach to the sky and call out your name
And if I could trade, I would.

    Good morning and goodbye...

Science more powerful than god himself...

    Is that what I want?

You're a bat out of hell; I'm a sucker from space...

I have no idea why the only good video is set to anime. *shrug* Anyway, when this first came out, it was a delicious little twist ending. There was an article in the local paper (or it might have been AP, I don't remember) about how country music is a lot more dark and violent than a lot of people think. Um, well...duh. It was a pretty dumb article. I like the song, though.

First thing I thought of -

Mack the Knife. I am fond of the recording Kevin Spacey did for the recent Bobby Darin movie but I have to go with Ella for this with Bing's cover from the "Bing with a Beat" album ranking very high as well.

Another obvious one from one of my favourite albums of the past 20 years -
