    And Instagram.
    And Whatsapp.
    And Messenger.

    Twitter is on fire though.

How does this outage impact you?

    None impact me at all

FB would be annoying since I use that to keep track of events
And far friends, family and acquaintances use it to ping me, thru FB messengers.
I kinda use it to get BS and rabbit droppings from my head.

Insta is only used to look a cuties

I don’t use WA or SC unless someone else is calling

Discord I now use for D&D games
So that would be annoying on Wednesdays

    My world wouldn’t stop
I prefer books and going out

Only if my web went out entirely
I work remote. That’s my life blood. $$$

    They’re toys to me.
No loss. Just a minor disappointment if not available.

    Life goes on.

I feel for the folks whose livelihoods depend on these platforms.

It does offer an important time to reflect and remember just how much time it sucked away from my life.

To be honest, I didn’t even realize they were down.

I happened to be on FB when it zapped
I just retried my edit. Wouldn’t work, with a unusual red error.
I simply closed it and went to read a book waiting for my lunch at a restaurant.

My philosophy, if those don’t work. Walk away.

When you posted this, I thought it was an overarching question, nothing specific about an event.
I answered as such, still oblivious.

Frankly, when I’m working…it’s for brief breaks.
    Rabbit droppings
For longer breaks, I read or watch TV
For real long breaks and after work, I get out.

Life isn’t ruled by the media.
Frankly, if on the web, I’d rather do the news.
I’m a bit of a political junkie.

I was in class and speaking with a professor guy who always makes me happy to see. Such a fucking brilliant guy - I used to work with him years and years ago on some little side projects. I think he's an acquired taste - I don't really know. I instantly liked him.

So by the time I checked, it was all over.

The interesting thing to me is I've been contemplating the time I've spent on fb over the last maybe 10 years - periodically quite a bit. I keep thinking about how much time I spend over there - knowing it's such a shitty space.

It doesn’t affect me directly. Perhaps indirectly because my wife does some, a very small amount, of keeping in touch via FB.

    quasi-related bb question:

when did we lose the ability to edit our posts? I see a minor grammar issue up there and I don't seem to be able to edit it. This is causing minor vexation.

I can edit your post! I do not know why you cannot edit your own post. I agree that this is confusing.

    From what I can tell:
You have a short time period in which you can edit your post. I'm thinking an hour, but I could be way off.
If you are a contributor, you can edit your posts at any time, until your contributor status expires.

@cynthetiq would be the person to better explain this.

You're an admin, so I'm guessing that's part of it.

I also started putting in a minimal amount of autodonate recently. I deactivated fb for a while - we'll see if I'll go back at some point, but for now I'm off that platform. I don't know if that'll last due to advocacy in the nonprofit and education world.

Donors are supposed to be able to edit their posts.

non-donors there's a time period. I don't remember what that time period is it's a couple minutes at most.

Ah, yes. I forget that I get that special access.

Thanks for the warning that you disappeared from FB. You have been posting quality content of late, which I could see becoming exhausting if people decide to argue. You shared some really enlightening things.

I should written donors instead of contributors,
but I think most folks knew what I meant.

Only a couple of minutes to edit a post????
    That doesn't sound right.

    mommy,

I'm already back. I kind of need to be there for marketing of some of the nonprofit stuff and the screenprinting shop. I'm trying to stay out of arguments. Its just not a good space for it in so many ways.

cyn Incidentally, I should be a donor here now if that changes my list editing capabilities?
