I'm pretty sure buying votes is illegal* ; but that is a cause I'd be willing to contribute to.

In this day and age social media is becoming main focus.
Also the Clinton campaign is going to be focused more in that direction this time around.
Like her driving to Iowa and stopping at Chipolte the theme is her going out to the people and earning their vote.
It worked really well for her when she ran for Senate so I think they intend to duplicate it this time around.
Might have helped her win if she'd used it against Obama, you never know.

Clinton is basically a neoliberal populist. This means she's going to stop at Chipotle for a burrito bowl one day, and appeal to Wall Street the next.

Social media is going to be a big part of that as well.

It is interesting looking at this from a business point of view. Some in business will buy market share (through acquisitions) while others focus on growing market share through delivery on a promise of quality service and products. I prefer businesses who grow based on the delivery on a promise of quality service and products.

What are candidates actually getting for a $5 billion investment? They obviously think it makes a difference or why spend so much time and brain power engaged in the activity of fund raising. Perhaps the business of running for office is the new Wall St.. I am going to want to see how the candidates spend the money. Today, Clinton mentioned the disparity between CEO's and regular employees - let's take a look at how much she is paying campaign managers and consultants - comparing that to the zero pay of armies of volunteers.

Real road warriors don't eat at Chipotle, basically a place for Yuppies who will spend $8 for a burrito. Real road warriors will eat at a Chester's connected to a truck-stop. I think if Clinton wants to connect with real people she needs to hire me, what do you think she pays to have someone advise her on what restaurants appeal to blue collar working class folk.

A chicken dinner at Chester's will still set you back $10, so I don't see much of a difference. (Burritos are filling!)

But, actually, real road warriors eat Dinki-Di dog food, because they must subsist on what they can find.

OK, so some of these are very unlikely to happen, but I think the candidates will need to focus on substance and not making mistakes to differentiate themselves from the crowd. I also think that the media plays a big role in getting people to know who these candidates are, and it isn't their ideas that they are running on, but the name recognition and the feeling that other people support them.

There are also quite a few more that I haven't listed for small political parties that I came across as I was searching for who was running. 2016 Presidential Hopefuls Grouped By Party

Mike Pense sure looked likely but I don't think so now.
Scott Walker is probably going to but right now he couldn't carry his own state.
Wouldn't be surprised if [gag]Trump[vomit] steps in because his ego is just that big.
And of course Bush is just waiting for 'the' moment.

I agree, Mike Pense wasn't a national figure before a few days ago, but now he is for the wrong reasons. He might have done well in the primary, but I think there would be too many other issues that he doesn't have experience with.

Scott Walker wouldn't need to carry Wisconsin though. He is the one that I think would be the biggest challenge for the Democrats to compete against. Rubio isn't too far behind. There are only 4 states that the GOP needs to win from 2012, Florida, Iowa, Virgina, and Ohio. If he could win in Pennsylvania he wouldn't need to win Virgina or Iowa. There are a few other combinations too.

I might be crazy enough to run someday. Mainly just to say you did it, and that the American people are stupid since they didn't vote for you.

I do not claim that I can solve all the world's problems by myself. If I did, I'd have to run as a Republican or a Democrat.

    Left-wing or right-wing. No, I'm not either. I'm kind of middle-of-the-bird.

It looks like Hillary will have a candidate that won't be afraid to debate her on the issues in the race now. I doubt that Bernie Sanders will bring up the Clinton scandals that the GOP will in attack after attack however. It will be interesting to see how Hillary responds to someone who connects with the activist wing of the Democratic Party to see if she can handle it better this time compared with 2008.

This is what I like about Sanders running. He will talk about the issues that matter most and will call people out on any shit that proves a distraction. I don't know if he'll beat Clinton out in the primaries, and I doubt he'll ever be president, but I sincerely hope he will, at least, force people to talk about the issues that affect everyday Americans the most. At most: I hope he upsets the status quo of presidential elections that caters mostly to the elites and their corporate interests.

As long as he doesn't go Ross Perot and run as an Independent (and split votes) I'm cool with him mixing it up in the primaries

I think I will wait a while to see who decides to enter the race in the next few months before I update the list again. I'm just wondering if someone will announce they are running in 2020 right after the inauguration though since we are still a long ways away from the election.
