I don't know what the news was like before with the Fairness Doctrine, but I don't think it would help much if it just meant that each side had to be represented.

Unless it was adjusted for the findings of scientific research papers to figure out how much time each side had to be covered.

It was the 3 major broadcast networks.
1/2 hr local and a full hr national, mainly factual reporting of events.
Punditry was mostly for special shows on weekends like meet the press and 60 min, fireing line, etc.
It wasn't 24-7 and 75% pundits on 3 news only networks + weekend + the wide range of indie websites and utubers saying whatever they want.

This is an interesting chart on media bias; I might move some of these from "skews" to "hyper-partisan" or "hyper-partisan" to "most extreme" particularly on the right, but that is probably my bias.

I just watched George Stephanopoulos and Rand Paul get into a shouting match. It was nice to see a TV journalist actually confront a politician who was trying to present a spin/perpetuate a lie that has been disproved many times.

Paul kept insisting there were election law changes made in numerous states that illegally bypassed the respective state legislatures. George was trying to get him answer how this could be true given the number of investigations and recounts, several under GOP AGs appointed by Trump, and the fact that the DOJ & Barr, a devout Trump supporter, clearly stated there was no wide spread significant election fraud.

I think George would've punched Paul if they had been FTF.

    YEAH!

If the news is so liberal, why do they keep calling it a riot, instead of an attempted coup? Because that is what it was.

I don't care what the Idles sing, I'd fight Rand Paul. Didn't one of his own neighbors fight him on his front lawn? Plus his first traitorous action was his 4th of July Russia trip several years ago.

Yes, Rand was leaving yard waste on the neighbors space or at least where the neighbors asked not to multiple times..

I've had this image on my phones for a long time. I stick with the AP, the Hill and the Guardian, I'd do more but I don't do paywalls yet.
Sometimes I check in on the far fringe of either side.

Lou Dobbs' Fox Business Network Show Is Canceled | HuffPost

    Well, times are a changing
That or Fox is covering its ass in a lawsuit

But actually, he’s old and they likely want to bring in new blood
Fox has always been about being contemporary

Really it depends on if they’re able to sell ads
    And make business not nervous

People always forget news is about $$$

If you want “pure” news, then you have NPR
Where they beg every once in a while
(still can’t get off that list)

He wasn't that bad on CNN about 20 years ago. But both sides have gone away from the white male blue collar worker which is what he used to talk about.

The GOP would rather focus on the rich and racist, with some religious types thrown in. The Dems also focus on a different set of rich and multi-ethnic and gendered groups.

True, he was on Seattle local news back in the day. Generally friendly demeanor with the stories of the day.
But then I remember him beginning to rail against those evil apple picking mexicans ?!?

Wish more could figure it out.
Tucker Carlson has blood on his clothes

There’s a significant portion of the media also has it.
They’re guilty of instigating and obfuscation
With the results being the Death of many
Or direct or indirect harm and hospitalization of many.

They are not just traitors to their nation
But traitors to the human race.

All in the pursuit of $$$

    Sean Hannity
    Rupert Murdoch
    And more….

    They have caused much damage

Jim Acosta confronts Marjorie Taylor Greene on Capitol Hill — CNN Politics

Now this is hard hitting journalism

You don’t give a forum like a TV news show where’s it’s like a classic debate, letting everyone say their thing, so it’s “fair and balanced”.

You go face to face with them spontaneously
    Ask them the HARD questions
Then show the reality to the public

It doesn’t matter who is asked, or what side
That’s what is fair. All leaders are treated the same… when needed.

The media has been playing softball for too long
    We need hardball
    The nation needs hardball

That’s the “bleed” news should lead with.

    Otherwise, it’s just entertainment
    And politicians are actors.

We don’t need actors, we need leaders.
The media needs to stop giving them a stage.

It good to see that Emerald* Robinson was called out. I think we're going to see more right wing agenda driven "news reporting" presented as real news. It'll feed the people seeking contrary news. One problem is the people who don't really follow politics and news will see/hear something ludicrous and make no effort to find out if it's true.

My wife frequently repeats some of the manipulated "news" she hears on our local pro-republican "news radio." What's sad is the station actually used to be the best overall news radio station in Houston.

*Emerald sounds like a name for a porn star, or a low talent "recording artist."
