'Tis that wonderful day that only comes once a year, April Fools. I grew up in a family of inveterate practical jokers, and was usually the unfortunate victim of April Fools--the foolee, rather than the fooler.

What are some good April Fools jokes or pranks you've seen or done?

Took me a moment to realize what day it was when I saw this at 5:30 this morning.

What else is out there on the web today? Have you pulled any good pranks or jokes?

I had a boss tell me late in the afternoon, near quitting time, "I need to see you in my office." I looked at him and replied, "If this is an April Fools Day prank, I'm not laughing." He hadn't realized how it sounded, and it turns out he just wanted discuss a couple of minor things.

I was about 5 miles and 30 minutes away from getting married at the courthouse on April Fools. I couldn't do it.

An extremely introverted young man whom I supervised got married on April Fools Day. He said that did so intententionally because his family would never believe that he actually married his female roomate (apparantly totally platonic; yes, he was that shy) of several years.

My wife and I were perfectly fine living in sin. However, in 1980, her insurance would not cover preganancy for an unmarried woman (and mine would cover her the minute we got married).

Not exactly romantic; but a problematic pregnancy and $20,000 bill made marriage much more attractive.

I didn't realize the date when we headed out to the courthouse. In retrospect, I wish we'd have done it. It would be good for endless jokes. As is, Friday will be my 35th anniversary. Those "shotgun" marriages never work out.

My parents clocked in at 33 years on their shotgun marriage in January.

We're nowhere near April 1, but these two remain my favorites:

I replied twice, and never mentioned how much I dislike surprises, even ones intended to be pleasant.

Make it a prank, even a harmless one (there is no such thing in my book), even on AFD, and my dislike turns turns ugly.

Years there was TV commercial where a group of guys punk their friend by yelling warnings just as he is starting his bungee jump. I would wind up in prison because I would fucking kill as many of them as possible, or at the very least injure them severely. And I am being totally serious.
