New job. After a while, I've noticed.....everyone I work with overcomplicate everything and makes everything SOUND more difficult than it is. On top of that, the company itself feels like a machine. There's always a need from the company or co-workers to try and get "value" from everything. I understand that so many places are laying people off, so alot of people are trying to do whatever to make themselves and their work seem valuable. I get that. I'm just tired of constantly trying to prove my worth. I, honestly, can't believe we're at this point. I remember when you could just go to work and do your job. Now it all seems so forced. I've had family, that complained about corporate America. And I get it. It's a soulless entity. But I love my industry. I love what I do. I just don't like who I do it for and how they want it done.
As a pro chef for most of my life burning yourself is just part of the deal. Second only to cutting yourself.
Didn't watch the debates but I hear it went about as I expected. Next two debates, I think that dog shock collars should be required and used as often as possible.
Geez, just got told they’re starting construction next to me AGAIN!! This is like a running joke... There’s always construction wherever I move now First in Northern VA...tore down a forest for an apt complex Then same complex, different apt...a mall across the street. Next near Baltimore...condos with friggin bright lights Then in DC...they started building a tower apt Now out near the beach...the neighbor tearing down his house and rebuilding Y’gotta be kidding me.
So basically, you're single-handedly keeping the construction industry going? Good on you. Kidding aside, that does suck donkey balls.
Well shit. At some point somewhat recently I had one window with about 20 tabs open of previous TFP threads I'd gone back to that I wanted to revisit. And at some point somewhat more recently I closed that window. Boo.
I hate that when that happens I usually do it for a lot of science articles I want to read But don’t have the braincells or mindset to dive in. That’s why I use Opera, it will keep them open even if it gets closed. (But even that’s no guaranteed...)
On a bitching note... I managed to cut off a bit of the tip of my ring finger. Owwww Actually, didn’t hurt much...just lots of blood And a couple of hours wasted for urgent care (Which is farther away now 20 min vs 5 min) And it was embarrassing, have my coworkers know Because I cut it right before a meeting And it’s awkward, with big ol bandage Look like Stone-Finger, the Flintstones villain
Actually counting down to the month when I start looking for another job. Absolutely hate this place. It's almost like the high pay is to make up for the insane people you have to deal with.....but it doesn't.....it really doesn't.
Bandaging fingers is the absolute worst. Normal band-aids never work/fit in ways they should to accommodate normal day-to-day movement while accelerating healing.
I caught what would be a ring finger on my right hand in a folding ladder back when I was a pup. It's deformed as a result and the grand kids love looking at it. First hospital wanted to cut it off. Went to another hospital and lucky me, got the bone specialist for the Chicago Bears, at the time. He basically cleaned it out. bandaged it up after a couple of stitches and I have a full finger. The actual ring finger, on my left hand, was also involved but not as damaged.
